A faunistic database on the spiders of the Caucasus
Mykola Kovblyuk recently sent my a new article:
Kovblyuk, M. M. & Nadolny, A. A. (2009): The spider genus Trachelas L. Koch, 1872 in Crimea and Caucasus with the description of Paratrachelas gen.n. (Aranei: Corinnidae) Arthropoda Selecta, 18, 35-46 [full-text PDF]
This paper includes records of:

"... a thorough collecting of Arachnids in Transcaucasia would yield a magnificent prey because, namely in spiders, an astonishing richness in both individuals and species made itself noticeable." L. Koch (1878)

Mr. Stefan Otto,
Do you know if spiders exist in Mt. Arart in Turkey at 4,000 meter altitude or above?

Whether spiders occur at such high altitudes depends on the conditions there. There are only few spiders on pure ice and snow shields, possibly after landing after dispersal in the air on silk threads. If there’s no snow, spiders might find suitable conditions for living between rocks or plants.
